The Surrender Experiment

February 1, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Motivated by reading ‘The untethered soul‘ and ‘The Surrender Experiment‘ by Michael Singer, Diederik and I decided to experiment with surrendering to our lives. Not sure what it will look like but that might be the idea. We’re thinking of bringing some people together to inquire into it, meditate on it, or whatever will happen.

To explore what surrendering is about and how the weak (or strong) signals show up in our lives can be a first step. But it could be something totally different. Did you read one of these books? What struck you most? Interested to inquire into it more deeply? Let me know!

Quote from ‘The surrender experiment’:

‘Time and again I was seeing that if I could handle the winds of the current storm, they would end up blowing in some great gift. I was beginning to view these storms as a harbinger to transformation. Perhaps change only takes place when there is sufficient reason to overcome the inertia of everyday life. Challenging situations create the force needed to bring about change. […] I was learning to sit quietly in the midst of the howling winds and wait to see what constructive action was being asked of me.’

The picture is from our retreat 2 years ago in Utah where we surrendered to the wilderness. Fear, love, appreciation and many more emotions showed up.
