Mary Beth O’Neill wrote the best book I know about Coaching: Executive Coaching with Backbone and Heart. I’m rereading it again (it was first published in 2007) and learn from it every time. The subtitle is: A systems approach to engaging leaders with their challenges. She puts the coaching of clients in the clients bigger context and links it to the business results they need to achieve. Apart from that she talks about transference from the client to the coach and the other way around. It’s a must read for everybody who takes coaching seriously and wants to deepen his/her understanding about what is happening during the coaching process.
