‘We are in a climate and environmental emergency. The European Green Deal is an opportunity to improve the health and well-being of our people by transforming our economic model. Our plan sets out how to cut emissions, restore the health of our natural environment, protect our wildlife, create new economic opportunities, and improve the quality of life of our citizens. We all have an important part to play and every industry and country will be part of this transformation. Moreover, our responsibility is to make sure that this transition is a just transition, and that nobody is left behind as we deliver the European Green Deal.’ also sprach Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans.
We’ve developed a program for the province of Groningen to become the pioneer province for the new green deal. How can Groningen be the example of the B-Economy that’s good for the individual, society and nature? It means many huge projects (or demonstrations) to transform the economy and to attract investors. We like to proof that a different economy at scale is possible. We’ve raised a lot of enthusiasm and many people and organisations are keen to contribute. It will be our key program for the upcoming years in which we experiment with ideas and projects that make Groningen the best place to live in Europe. We’re never shy of ambition.
